Diversity Council Hosts
Forum on "Talking about Race"
The Centerville-Washington Diversity
Council presents a forum on Race Friday, May 22 at 8:30 a.m. at the
Washington-Centerville Public Library, 111 W. Spring Valley Road. "Are
We Cowards When It Comes to Talking about Race?" U.S. Attorney
General Eric Holder said that he thought so when he was interviewed just
a few months ago. Some people think that with the election of Barack
Obama as President of the United States, race is no longer an issue in
America. What do you think and why? This is an open invitation to the
public to join the Centerville-Washington Diversity Council (CWDC),
Greater Dayton Christian Connections, the National Conference for
Community & Justice (NCCJ) and the YWCA in a thoughtful and meaningful
dialogue regarding race and race relations in our community. NCCJ
Executive Director, Pat Meadows, will facilitate this dialogue. The
program will open with a panel discussion followed by a question and
answer period as we explore how we can improve race relations and
multi-cultural understanding where we live and work. Coffee and pastries
will be provided.
